H&R Block Takes on a Different Shade of Green

Joining progressive companies by going Eco-friendly

Australia's leading franchise tax services company, H&R Block announced they will go paper-light by reducing their paper consumption and usage by 90 per cent across all offices nationwide. As part of the digital transformation, all H&R Block offices across Australia are moving to a new software platform, Sage Handitax, an easy-to-use practice management solution developed in Australia specifically for Australian practices.

Designed to maximise productivity through streamlined processes and easy access tools to run the entire practice, Sage HandiSoft is trusted by more than 7,500 Australian accounting practices and tax agents. The technology has been progressively introduced across the entire H&R Block network, with full completion in June 2019.

With over 470 H&R Block franchised storefronts nationwide, the new Handitax platform will enable the company to drastically reduce their paper consumption, and reduce their environmental footprint – with a predicted saving over 28 million pieces of paper which is the equivalent of 140 tonnes by December 2019. Joe Abouzaid, Director of Operations said,

“We’re excited about what will be a huge shift for our company. Moving towards a paperless system, will not reduce our carbon footprint (equivalent to an estimated 10,000 trees in a 3 year period) but demonstrates to our clients and employees our commitment as a company to being sustainable, modern and efficient. It also enables us to unlock more of the opportunities for automation and AI into the future.”

Kerry Agiasotis, Managing Director & Executive Vice President at Sage Asia Pacific said,

“We are proud to be supporting H&R Block on their journey to become a paperless organisation as a part of their broader environmental commitment. It is great to see how Sage can help organisations not only improve business efficiencies but also improve the world we live in.”
