Cafe2U Franchisee Michelle Lacey supports Rockhampton after destructive cyclone Marcia

In the aftermath of tropical cyclone Marcia, which caused devastating effects on the city of Rockhampton, locals had their hearts and hands warmed by hot beverages supplied by local Cafe2U franchisee Michelle Lacey.

“A lot of the town was without power or running water for six days, the roads were so quiet during this time, I thought the least I could was be out there servicing hot drinks to the community.”

“In the mornings, I’d go to the fire and ambulance service to provide coffees to the workers, before stopping by the Iceworks for the locals who were there during the clean up.”

Michelle and her Cafe2U van are a familiar sight around Rockhampton, as she works at local events, from small gigs such as the local netball courts four nights a week, to having been a popular asset at this year’s Beef Week, which saw many internationally acclaimed chefs buying multiple coffees daily from Michelle’s Cafe2U van.

Having researched franchises for years, before deciding on Cafe2U, Michelle has now been with Cafe2U for four years. Michelle and her partner, Leon have owned many a company prior to joining the Cafe2U franchise. From Mexican food, to takeaway pizza to a printing business, to the Home Entertainment Express company they’ve had for the last nine years, the dynamic duo have pulled off whatever endeavour they have dived head first into.

“I wanted my own company as we tend to bump heads working together, he does however make sure everything is running smoothly by managing all the paper work.”

Having previously worked as a retail manager for 15 years, Michelle loves being a franchisee of Cafe2U due to only having to depend on herself or those she chooses to help run her business and the ability to choose her own hours, which ultimately means more time with her children and being about to facilitate their extra curricular activities.

“Being a part of Cafe2U has allowed me the freedom to pick my children up from school and drive them to their after school activities.”

“I have the ability to take three weeks off over Christmas to spend time with my family, I never used to have that option when I was managing someone else’s business.”

Michelle is extremely proud of being a franchisee of Cafe2U due to the smart-looking van, its facilities and the great quality coffee served, she believes that Cafe2U is a franchise that sells itself.
