New grilled chicken menu delivers tasty, healthier options
Working tirelessly for months to bring their Korean fried chicken and beer restaurant concept to market, four Monash University mates opened their first Gami Chicken restaurant in 2006.
Now, 18 years and 39 restaurants later, the same four mates, albeit with a much larger team working with them, have undertaken one of their most innovative menu updates by launching a new grilled chicken range across their franchised quick service restaurant network. The new menu items complement their existing signature fried chicken share meals and individual menu items.
The tantalising selection of grilled chicken dishes offer a healthier alternative to their Korean fried chicken dishes. From the irresistible spiciness of Mad Gochujang Chicken, a blend of spicy and sweet sizzling chicken complemented by rice cakes and Udon noodles, to the richness of Honey Butter Garlic Chicken, guests now have a new taste of Korea to explore.
Additionally, the new Chicken Skewer Plate and Farmer’s Chicken Skewers allow diners to savour grilled chicken prepared with three different Korean-inspired gourmet sauces. Prepared over open flames, each skewer is brushed and then drizzled with either sweet chili, Gochujang, or sweet mustard sauce, delivering a delectable spectrum of flavours. The Grilled Chicken Burger, providing an alternative to the popular crispy fillet version, rounds out the new menu update.
“Gami Chicken’s new grilled menu items promise an unforgettable dining experience,” said Jun Lee, Executive Director of Gami Chicken. “We aimed to provide a healthier option while still retaining Gami’s famed mouthwatering ‘beautiful’ taste, and I think we have done that.”
The new grilled chicken options capture the shift in consumer preferences towards health and nutrition through better quality food. Gami Chicken’s research, and the outstanding sales results from their healthier individual menu items introduced last year, indicated to Jun and his team that they could shift further towards healthier menu options.
Launched in mid-2023 Gami Chicken’s individual menu items such as Bibimbap, Kkochi Salad, Gochujang Chicken, and a Gami Bowl provide guests with a healthier, wider taste of Korea. Offering healthier grilled chicken options is a continuation of this menu review.
“Our new grilled chicken menu doesn’t move too far from our Korean influences,” said Lee. “We’re excited to be offering diners new menu options that do not compromise on flavour or quality. Similarly, we’re excited to be moving away from being known for ‘Korean fried chicken’ to positioning Gami Chicken as ‘Korean chicken’ market leaders.”
