ACT’s first drive-thru pharmacy a winning success

One year on from the launch of the Australian Capital Territory’s first drive-thru pharmacy, Gold Creek Discount Drug Store, and the local community has embraced their new ‘door-to-door’ service.

Since unveiling their drive-thru pharmacy concept, Gold Creek Discount Drug Store has provided customers and patients in the community with greater accessibility and flexibility to healthcare.

Gold Creek Discount Drug Stores partner, Nader Ibrahim, said establishing the drive-thru was the next step in improving customer service standards.

“Our drive-thru pharmacy has enabled local patients, both young and old, to become more independent on their journey to better health and has been of particular benefit to pregnant women, the elderly and those with chronic conditions,” said Mr Ibrahim.

“We now see customers who we hadn’t seen in years due to their inability to be mobile. Rather than having to ask their friends, family or neighbours to assist, the drive-thru enables patients to feel more self-sufficient.”

The pharmacy’s drive-thru offers a range of benefits for customers, including over-the-counter medication, script collection, and an efficient click and collect program through the Discount Drug Stores e-commerce site.

Mr Ibrahim has personally seen the first-hand healthcare benefits for time-poor mothers and fathers, who need to juggle the kids, their career and other home duties all in an efficient manner.

“Nicholls is a hub for parents and we originally expected the drive-thru pharmacy model would help parents by providing them with more direct access to medication, healthcare products and professional pharmacist advice with ease,” continued Mr Ibrahim.

“We’ve seen a 34 per cent increase in purchases from our baby range via the drive-thru, such as baby formulas and medication, proving the concept makes life easier for stay-at-home parents, who can avoid the hassle of taking their kids in and out of the car.”

Gold Creek Discount Drug Stores is inviting the local community to celebrate their one-year anniversary from 10am on Saturday June 1, with a sausage sizzle, kids face painting, exclusive in-store promotions and raffle prizes for attendees.
