Alison’s Multimillion-Dollar Smile

At just 25, Sydney-based Alison Egan owns Sparkling White Smile, a business she created from the ground up over the past five years. Despite the business still being in its infancy, the mobile-unit brand currently holds 17 franchised agreements in major cities across the country, with the Canberra site as its latest inclusion.

What started as a side hustle has evolved into a high-end service that attracts actors, models, television presenters and sporting stars, as well as significant media attention. The Sparkling White Smile team can enhance smiles from five to 14 shades whiter using the latest technology and the safest product. The procedure creates perfect smiles quickly, effectively and pain-free.

Egan began franchising the business in 2018 from her Sydney CBD headquarters, where she employs an average of 15 staff, with an additional 50 technicians scattered across the country, servicing between 2,000 – 2,500 clients a week.

The Sparking White Smile franchising intake involves a four-step process, followed by the commencement of training. In collaboration with qualified dentists, Egan runs a monthly franchising masterclass. The class includes an introduction to the brand, as well as marketing, sales etiquette, theory and practical teeth whitening. Guest speakers and current franchisees attend each class providing practical skills for business, including stress coping mechanisms, accounting skills and more.

“Following training, our new technicians are able to go out into the field and start their business with the support of Sparking White Smile trainers for their first full month.

“We also have a 24/7 helpline and online support forum for any franchisees needing assistance. I have found this creates a real sense of community, with franchisees all providing support and sharing tips with one another,” Egan said.

Currently, the Sparkling White Smile franchise model allows for approximately 250 Franchises across Australia, and with the addition of 17 franchisees in just 12 months, the brand is showing no signs of slowing down.
