On Friday Anytime Fitness Australia held an Amazing Race & Gala Dinner in Sydney as part of their annual awards ceremony for staff and franchisees.
The Anytime Amazing Race, sponsored by Ausfit and Life Fitness, was attended by over 100 staff and franchisees. Split into teams of six they competed in a scavenger hunt with clues, checkpoints and varied activities around Sydney’s iconic landmarks and the CBD. Teams started at The Domain and had two and half hours to compete before finishing up at the Royal Botanical Gardens. Prizes for the winning team were gift packs from Asics.
The grand finale of the day was a Gala Dinner at The Star, sponsored by Ausfit and Aussie Bodies, which was attended by over 550 guests. The evening was MC’d by the brilliant Merrick Watts, and Anytime Fitness Brand Ambassador Shannon Ponton was there to join in the celebrations. Attendees were treated to a glamorous black tie dinner and awards night reminiscent of the Oscars!
The eight awards presented on the night were Belong Team Member, Community Outreach, Emerging Franchisee, Turnaround Club, PT, Club Manager, Club, and the much coveted Franchisee of the Year Award, presented by Anytime Fitness Australia co-founders Justin & Jacinta McDonell. As well as the awards for Franchisees and/or their staff, this year three member awards were given as part of the My Anytime Challenge – a competition where clubs nominated their members within three categories – Personal Success, Body Shape and Rehabilitation.

MY ANYTIME CHALLENGE:
Rehabilitation: Tim Bandel, 22 years old – Member at Anytime Fitness Melton VIC
Recovering from Crohns Disease Tim was hospitalised due to a severe flair up of the condition and got down to only 50kg in weight. After 8 months of training he is up to 70kg and able to deadlift 125kg.
Personal Success: Kristy Davies, 35 years old – Member at Anytime Fitness Shellharbour
In 2009 Kristy was the heaviest she had ever been at 72kg (height 5ft) and was feeling sad and depressed. She decided to join Anytime Fitness in January 2013 having lost 22kgs by training at home. She wanted to tone up and learn how to introduce weight training into her workouts and went on to lose another 5kg’s. She is now studying her Master Trainer Course in Personal Training and has started training to complete in her first Fitness Model Competition.
Body Shape: Barney Rocks, 30 years old – Member at Anytime Fitness Wollongong NSW
In June 2013 Barney weighed in at 201.1kgs. He joined Anytime Fitness Wollongong and started working out with a PT. In March 2014 he won PT Member of the Month and had lost 72kg in 10 months. On 1st of June 2014 he weighed in at 119.4kgs, with a total of 81.7kgs lost in just 1 year.
