Jacinta McDonell Jimenez co-founded and launched the highly successful US franchise Anytime Fitness into Australia in 2008. With over 2500 clubs and 1.5 million members’ worldwide, since Anytime Fitness’s launch into Australia it has become the quickest growing segment of the world’s fastest growing fitness chain.
Anytime Fitness’s company ethos is based on changing lives, it’s what they do every day. Jacinta has taken this ethos one step further by undertaking fundraising work for non-profit organisation The Hunger Project. The Hunger Project empowers people to end their own hunger by tipping the aid model on its head. They break the cycle of hunger and poverty. They unlock the vision, commitment and leadership of the hungry by training them in the skills and confidence to feed themselves and their families. Put simply, Anytime Fitness and The Hunger Project believe in the same thing – that each and every person has the ability to transform their life and that all people are resilient and inspiring. All we need is to unleash our potential.
Jacinta says “I believe that every person should have access to enough food to eat each day and the opportunity to education. I believe that nobody actually wants charity”.
She has personally committed to raising $100,000 for The Hunger Project, which will provide 200 communities with the ability to purchase food-processing equipment, provide 2,000 people with microfinance loans that are often used by communities to buy seeds/fertiliser, and train up to 50,000 rural villagers on agricultural practices.
Jacinta will also travel to Malawi in August to see first-hand what her funds achieve. And it is with deep gratitude that Jacinta thanks Anytime Fitness brand ambassador Shannan Ponton for committing his time and his amazing energy to help her raise funds for this organisation. Along with donations from the public, friends and family, Shannan will be hosting numerous events throughout June & July all of which will help raise money for this great cause.
