- With Australians spending an estimated $18 billion over Christmas, couriers across the country have been going above and beyond to deliver parcels in time for Christmas. Aramex Australia has reported over 450,000 more parcels were delivered this festive season.
CEO Peter Lipinski says after the busiest Christmas yet couriers across Australia are now gearing up for the post-Christmas rush of returns and another busy year meeting growing delivery demand.
“It’s no secret that Australians love online shopping and this is driving exceptional growth and demand in the transport sector. This Christmas was a record year for us at Aramex with almost half a million more parcels delivered in December than what was delivered in December 2018,” says Peter Lipinski.
It was also a record year with over two million more parcels delivered in 2019 compared to 2018.
Aramex has reported the top five delivery areas during December were Sydney, Melbourne, Port Macquarie, Surry Hills and Toowoomba.
“E-commerce has completely changed how we shop, and it’s transformed Australia’s peak retail and delivery season. Christmas may have passed but for couriers and many businesses across Australia, we’re sure the delivery demand will continue this month with a surge in returns of online shopping purchases. At Aramex, we’re ready for another big year meeting the growing delivery demand in Australia,” says Peter Lipinski.
Aramex is a leading global provider of comprehensive logistics and transport operating in over 65 countries. Aramex acquired the Fastway Couriers network in Australia in 2016 and is set to complete its national rebrand in coming months.
“We’re very pleased to be celebrating the completion of our rebrand across Australia which unlocks some powerful advantages for our business, our franchisees and customers,” says Peter Lipinski.
Aramex is one of the top five transport and logistics players globally, giving Australian delivery partners streamlined access to the fastest-growing markets for Australian products.
“We know that convenience is king, and we’ve laid strong foundations and have been investing in resources to help our customers and Australian businesses capitalise on the growth of e-commerce this year,” says Peter Lipinski.
“We’re currently in the pilot stage of a new click and collect service with some of our partners and are exploring different ways we can provide our customers with even more convenience. Aramex is committed to delivering for businesses of any size, so we’re structuring our pricing to suit not only our large-scale corporate customers, but also smaller companies just beginning their e-commerce journey,” adds Peter Lipinski.
Aramex purchased Fastway Couriers in Australia and New Zealand in January 2016 for $117 million. Aramex has a presence in over 65 countries, transporting nearly 70 million parcels globally each year.
