Tasmania’s appetite for building and renovation has surged by up to 20 per cent in 2014 with an increased interest in arty and edgy style, state manager of Beaumont Tiles, Bob Moore said today.
At the opening of Beaumont Tiles’ first Tasmanian store, Mr Moore said homeowners and renovators are taking their lead from the tourism and commercial sectors which are pushing the boundaries of style and gaining international kudos.
“Tasmania is becoming an iconic style destination and local builders and homeowners are taking this flavour indoors to create their own special spaces,” he said.
“We are seeing a real interest in products, finishes and textures that have been used by some of our iconic tourism, arts and commercial developments such as Saffire, MONA and the IXL jam factory redevelopment.
“With Beaumont Tiles, Tasmanians can now readily access a diverse range of product straight from the fashion shows of Europe and the US including mosaics, large format tiles, and timber look tiles.”
Australia’s largest tile retailer has been brought to Tasmania by the owners of the Building Selection Centre who report enquiries for building products and services had jumped up to 20 per cent since January.“We are extremely excited about Beaumont Tiles entering the Tasmanian market. There is a lot of opportunity in Tasmania and we see a bright future here. There will be six jobs created when our Hobart store opens, with more job opportunities when a second store opens in Launceston,” said Managing Director of the Building Selection Centre, Mark Trueman.
The new Beaumont Tiles 400m2 show room was officially opened by the Premier of Tasmania the Hon. Will Hodgman MP. It caters for the ‘whole of the house’ offering an extensive range of sizes, shapes and designs for both indoor and outdoor spaces as well as under tile heating options, bathroom ware and tiling products for DIYers.
Beaumont Tiles buyers travel the globe six months of the year sourcing the latest styles and trends. Drawing on a 12,000m2 warehouse in Melbourne, large orders can be delivered in less than 10 days.
Technology plays a key role in helping customer select the right tile. The store has Beaumont’s signature touch screen kiosks Scan & Play where customers can experiment with the looks of different tiles in situ before they buy.
