Bedshed shortlisted in Melbourne Design Awards

Bedshed’s industry leading and interactive in-store touch screens have been shortlisted in the 2013 Melbourne Design Awards, celebrating design innovation and technology.

Bedshed Chief Operating Officer, Gavin Culmsee, said the Australian-first retailing technology has proven to be very successful in the two stores currently operating the 42” concierge screens. “It’s successful on two fronts – enhancing our already high customer service levels and the provision of analytics and customer insights we capture as a business,” Mr Culmsee said.

“We know how many people have interacted with the kiosks, for how long, the specials responded to and products searched. It’s an invaluable insight into the minds of our customers at the point of product selection,” he said.

Customers using the in-store kiosks at Bedshed Moorabbin (suburban Melbourne) and Joondalup (suburban Perth) spend an average of seven minutes on the screen.

“That tells us they’re interacting well with the technology,” said Mr Culmsee. “Creating a product wish-list is the most popular activity, followed by the Mattress Assist function which lets customers search by brand, size and the reason for a new bed, such as partner disturbance.”

Mr Culmsee said Bedshed remains highly committed to innovation, and will continue to rollout the technology across its national network of more than 30 stores by offering franchisees assistance to upgrade their stores.

Bedshed is currently expanding on Australia’s eastern seaboard and is looking for franchisees to join its successful and growing store network.
