National franchise business, Books and Gifts Direct Pty Ltd is taking off under new leadership following an acquisition by Zooom Pty Ltd, a consortium comprising of existing master franchisees and management lead by original founder Mark Bonello.
With an annual revenue exceeding $30 million dollars and more than 100 franchises and subcontractors throughout Australia, Books and Gifts Direct is now 100% Australian owned and operated.
Established in 1990, originally known as Lifetime Distributors, “The Book People”, the company changed its name to Books and Gifts Direct in 2014 to more accurately reflect the mission of the company to supply a wide range of books and gifts up to 70 % off recommended retail price. Books and Gifts Direct is Australia’s largest direct retailer of books and gifts, selling to over 30,000 workplaces around Australia.
Mr Bonello, the new Managing Director of Books and Gifts Direct said he is delighted to be working with the company’s new and existing suppliers, shareholders and the franchise network to ensure a successful and profitable future for Books and Gifts Direct.
“Twenty-seven years later, I am no less excited to once again be at the helm of this wonderful business. In fact, I’ve been doing handstands daily since Zooom Pty Ltd took over Books and Gifts Direct,” Mr Bonello said.
“Books and Gifts Direct sells 3 million books and gifts per year, it’s an amazing feat! We work with suppliers from all over the world to bring a unique range of books and gifts, that are up to 70% less than recommended retail prices, to workplaces and customers in Australia.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of bringing the passion back to the business and working with our vast network of people to ensure we can continue to grow the Books and Gifts Direct business and position us as a leading Australian franchise business.”
