Multi-store owners Terry and Jeanette Bambury have swept the field with multiple award wins across their stores, including the prestigious 2014 Zarraffa’s Franchisee of the Year Award.
The Bambury’s, who own four stores on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, also took out the Store of the Year and the Growth Award (under 2 years) for their Maroochydore store and the Internal Shopping Centre Growth Award for their Morayfield store.
The Awards were announced last night at a gala dinner that concluded the Zarraffa’s Coffee two-day national conference, held at Salt, Kingscliff NSW.
The Bambury’s celebrated their third consecutive year of wins, taking out the Rookie of the Year Award for their Maroochydore store in 2012, followed by Franchisee of the Year last year.
Zarraffa’s CEO Kenton Campbell said the standard achieved by the Bambury’s across all four stores was exceptional and recognised their commitment to the franchise system and passion for the brand.
“Terry and Jeanette have earned their recognition and could not be a more positive success story for the Group,” he said.
“Their customer service, staff loyalty and business acumen are just some of the elements that set them apart and we are proud of their trajectory and reinvestment in the brand with multiple stores.”
The Bambury’s first opened the Morayfield store in 2005, with two of the founding staff members still in their employ, followed by Sunshine Plaza, the Maroochydore drive thru and the opening of the drive thru in Caloundra in July last year.
The key to the Bambury’s success is indicated in their enthusiasm for what they do.
“For me, working in our stores is more enjoyable than just a job, it has become a passion. I think our customers return for the great service and also the energy given off by Baristas that really enjoy their work,” said Mr Bambury.
“If I take a look back on the journey to date I’d have to say it’s been the best nine years of my life!”
The 2014 Awards also recognised new talent in the company with the Richlands store taking out the Rookie of the Year title.
The Award recognises those franchisees that are new to the Zarraffa’s family and who have performed exceptionally well in their first year.
In a first, a new CEO Encouragement Award was introduced recognising diligence, resilience and adherence to the brand and the franchise system.
It was awarded to WA-based store, Currambine, and recognises their efforts to turn the store around, highlighted by key factors such as turnover, Quarterly Store Evaluation (QSE) scores, mindset, attitude and their ability to follow the system.
In another acknowledgement of the trajectory of the company, changes were made to the annual Growth Awards.
Maroochydore was recognised for its exceptional sales growth of 20% taking out the Growth Award (under 2 years of trading), while stores trading over 2 years were eligible for acknowledgement in their benchmarking categories, as follows:
Drive Thru Growth Award – Warwick
Strip Mall Growth Award – Banora point
Internal Shopping Centre Growth Award – Morayfield
External Shopping Centre Growth Award – Arana Hills
“We have witnessed an exceptional turnaround in some of our stores, the Growth Awards recognise this and the efforts of our franchisees and their team members,” said Mr Campbell.
He went on to say that this year’s theme for the conference ‘Internalise’ meant taking things back to basics, to the foundations of the business and an in depth look at how to improve from within.
“There is nothing but potential for each and every one of our stores and to reach that potential we need to look within for the answers.”
Mr Campbell said the company will celebrate eighteen years in retail in this next year and he said that was inspiring to him is the many wonderful brand ambassadors.
“We have franchisees who have been with us for a long time, some who operate our stores in multiple locations and new faces that are attracted to the Zarraffa’s way. It’s this enthusiasm that will drive our growth into the next year and beyond.”
