Crust Parap Donates 100 Pizzas to Flood Victims

Crust Parap donated 100 large pizzas to evacuees of Daly River who were taking sheltering at the Darwin showgrounds after devastating floods ripped through the town.

After hearing that close to 400 residents were stuck at the showgrounds on December 29, Crust Parap Franchisee Sally Illingworth said she immediately got in touch to offer assistance.

“As soon as we heard the news we wanted to help, everybody loves pizza so we thought it would be a nice thing to do,” she said.

Sally said the donation had a few difficulties due to the large quantity of pizzas but they were still able to deliver a feast.

“We had a bit of trouble getting the pizzas into my car, so I had to phone a friend with a four-wheel drive who was able to help drop them off,” she said.

“We were making pineapple and cheese pizzas and quickly used up 10kg of pineapple, so we had to make a few different flavours.”

The ambitious 19-year-old is the youngest franchisee in the Crust network and said she owes her success to her perseverance and positive attitude.

“Since opening my store in 2014 I have proven to myself that I can achieve whatever I set my mind on,” Sally said.

“Helping others and giving back to the community is vital to running a successful business. My key philosophy is to lead by example and to treat others the way you wish to be treated.

“We have contributed to a variety of community groups, events and charities over the past year and will continue to show our support to the local community wherever we can.”
