The pizza store that holds the title for creating Australia’s Largest Pizza, Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar Parap, celebrated their first birthday on Monday November 2.
Crust Parap franchisee Sally Illingworth said their first birthday event was a huge success and she could not have done it without the support from the local community.
“On Monday we hosted our first birthday event which was extremely successful, we would like to thank the local community for coming and helping us raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” she said.
“We are so happy with the outcome and level of support shown, our goal was to raise $1,000 and we ended up raising $4,146.90 which is simply amazing.”
Ms Illingworth said the Make-A-Wish Foundation is very important to her as they supported her family several years ago when her brother was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
“When my brother was nine he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, throughout his time in hospital the Make-A-Wish Foundation was very supportive and contributed to his journey immensely,” she said.
“My choice to partner with them to celebrate our first birthday was merely a motion of appreciation for their contribution to sick kids, in particular my brother.”
Ms Illingworth said the event was thoroughly enjoyable and included a variety of family activities and entertainment.
“We were honoured to have a representative from the Make-A-Wish Foundation make a speech and also my brother Andrew Illingworth who was our ‘Guest of Honour’,” she said.
“Ange Coles, a local singer performed live on the night, we also had face painting for the kids and a special photographer to capture all the excitement.”
The ambitious 19-year-old is the youngest franchisee in the Crust network and said she owes her success to her perseverance and positive attitude.
“I have never considered age to be a barrier, I jumped at the opportunity to run my own business and have never looked back,” she said. “I have proven to myself that I can achieve whatever I set my mind to and I’m so happy to be able to celebrate this successful milestone.”
