Diamonds are a girl’s best friend – Yes they are!
It’s the ten thousand dollar question over 20,000 Australians answered when submitting their hopeful entry into the Cold Rock Cash vs. Rock competition. If you had to choose between $10,000 cash and a $10,000 diamond, what would it be?
There was only one prize, but what a prize it was – and for Olinda Lui, it was a clear decision to select ‘diamond’ over ‘cash’ as her winning preference. The Berwick local was the lucky one who landed the ultimate prize as part of Cold Rock’s latest campaign: perfect timing too, with her forthcoming wedding later this year!
Lui, a registered nurse, recalls a surreal phone call after forgetting she had even entered the competition. Unlike fellow punters who ate ice cream daily and entered numerous times, Olinda’s one and only submission was her golden ticket.
“I’ve never entered a competition before… I’m in shock. I went in very late after dinner as they were literally closing the doors. They kindly let me in, I grabbed my favourite Mix In combo, entered the competition and kind of forgot about it,” she said, after learning the news.
“I’m getting married later this year so this is amazing timing,” she added.
With 90% of entrants choosing cash as their preferred prize, Olinda’s choice has landed her an incredible 1 carat diamond, with an estimated retail value of over $15,000!
Calling on ice cream aficionados to choose their favourite Cold Rock Ice Cream Mix In combo – and the chance to take home a little more than a satisfied stomach – the competition ran for six weeks and was open to all purchasers of Cold Rock Ice Cream products.
Participants received a unique code, which was to be submitted via the custom built application on the Official Cold Rock Ice Creamery Facebook page.
Cold Rock CEO Stan Gordon is ecstatic to finally announce the winner, and says offering customers the opportunity to select their prize was an essential part of the iconic ice cream brand’s campaign.
“Cold Rock is all about Choice; our customers can choose from over 3,000 ice cream and Mix In combinations and this summer they could choose their prize too.
“Revealing the winner for such a grand prize is a very momentous occasion, and we’re excited to provide this once in a lifetime and very wonderful opportunity to Olinda. While $10,000 could buy a lot of Cold Rock Ice Cream, the joy of gifting a soon to be bride with a diamond in time for her special day, is extremely rewarding”, he said.
