Australia’s favourite dessert shop has hit a major milestone, and Sydney locals are getting the first taste.
The Cheesecake Shop is officially opening its 250th store in a landmark move for the iconic dessert brand that has been serving up sweet treats since 1991.
The newest store, celebrating their grand opening in Sydney’s Marsden Park on Saturday 12 April, marks more than just a new chapter for the franchise, but a deeply personal one for its owner – Nidhi Sharma.
“This isn’t just a business to me, it’s the realisation of a 12-year dream,” said Mrs Sharma. “For more than a decade I’ve worked in customer service across Coles, Aldi and Subway, but my dream has always been to have something of my own.
“To be given this opportunity to pour my heart and soul into a place that literally plates up happiness, is everything. This store isn’t just a business – it’s a hub for joy, connection, and celebration – and being the 250th store is the icing on the cake, it feels like a blessing.”
The Marsden Park store will open its doors with a celebration to match the milestone, with the first 250 customers receiving a free cake. Face painting, balloons and music are also on the opening party schedule for what Mrs Nihdi promises will be a true family-friendly affair.
The new store is the 47th store in NSW, and part of a powerful growth story for The Cheesecake Shop. Over the past 18 months alone, 15 new bakeries have opened across Australia and New Zealand, alongside a major brand refresh, extended trading hours and an updated menu that nods to the brand’s much-loved history, while delivering daily treats for every taste and occasion.
The Cheesecake Shop CEO Scott Bush said reaching the 250-store milestone was a testament to the strength of the franchise model, but most importantly the people behind it. “From our very first store in Sydney’s inner west to this moment in Marsden Park, our mission has remained the same – to help communities create sweet memories,” Mr Bush said. “Opening our 250th store is an incredibly proud milestone, but what makes it truly meaningful is the
story behind it. Franchise Partners like Nidhi are the heart and soul of The Cheesecake Shop, and their passion, dedication and drive to deliver joy to their communities is what fuels our success.”
With growing demand for cakes across all corners of Australia and New Zealand, The Cheesecake Shop is poised for continued expansion in 2025, with existing store enhancements and more than 10 new bakeries opening across Australia and New Zealand.
As for the best part of being in the business of cake? Mrs Sharma says it’s being able to take home a tropical torte (her absolute favourite) for dessert on any given day, but also serving up happiness.
The Cheesecake Shop Marsden Park will celebrate their grand opening on April 12 at Shop T19 at HomeCo, on Hollinsworth Road, open from 9am to 8pm daily. For more information visit cheesecake.com.au.
