Simple gestures make a big difference in trying times, and a pair of local franchises know that more than most after receiving heartfelt thanks from the local fire fighting fraternity in the Perth Hills district.
North-East Perth has been strongly affected by wild bushfires that have been devastating to local communities. Cafe2U franchise owners in the local areas last week volunteered their mobile coffee van services in an effort to support the heroic emergency service workers.
The fire crew in the Kalamunda Light Tanker found the gesture a morale booster among the ranks and have requested to publicly thank Chris Scollen, Cafe2U franchise owner from the Midland region, for his support and for his great barista skills.
“We would like to thank Chris for supplying us with awesome coffees when we attended the devastating Perth Hills Fire. Not only did Chris make a top coffee but was so generous with his time to support the emergency services” fire crew spokesperson Fiona Dodd said.
An ex-fire fighter volunteer himself, Chris said he knows just how helpful a warm coffee can be after a long day out in the bush.
“I knew that I had to help out but it wasn’t feasible for me to go out there. I decided instead to volunteer by offering my coffee services,” he explained.
Kylie Sewell, Café2U franchise owner from Welshpool area, was also apart of the relief effort and was amazed how the simple act of serving coffee could truly make a difference.
“It warms my heat that we could help out in such a small way,” Kylie said.
The fires have now been contained thanks to those amazing emergency workers who worked tirelessly to save as many homes and lives as possible. Cafe2U franchise owners were pleased that they could help out and offer their coffee services at such a challenging time.
