More than 35 delegates from the Fastway Couriers nationwide network attended its annual Regional Franchisee Conference at the Copthorne Hotel Oriental Bay Wellington earlier this month [3-5 April].
Themed “Not Business as Usual”, the three day event focused on providing Regional Franchisees with pragmatic advice, process improvements and new initiatives, all of which are aimed at creating better returns.
Austin Mortimer, CEO at Fastway Couriers, says the event was a huge success, with key highlights including presentations from Steve Rea, National Sales Manager at Z Energy, and Dr Leith Oliver, Programme Facilitator and Executive in Residence at The Icehouse.
“Last year, Fastway Couriers celebrated 30 years in business, an impressive milestone for our business. In 2014, our goal is to reinforce our position as the ‘Friendly Courier Experts’ and ensure we are operating as effectively and efficiently as possible, while delivering customer satisfaction at every touch point,” says Austin.
“On the first day of our conference, Steve spoke about Z Energy’s mission to put the ‘service’ back into service stations. As a service-oriented business ourselves, our Fastway Regional Franchisees found plenty of value in what Steve had to say and immediately began planning ways to implement some of his suggestions into their own businesses.”
Austin says hearing from Dr Leith Oliver, one of New Zealand’s most respected experts on business growth, proved inspirational to the conference attendees.
“Dr Oliver provided important insights into how our Regional Franchisees could streamline operations, raise revenue and prepare for future growth. His presentation was a definite high point during a very successful three days,” says Austin.
“Filled with important advice and great networking opportunities, our conference was a fantastic way for the Fastway team to reflect on the triumphs of 2013 and prepare for the exciting year ahead. We have received great feedback from our Regional Franchisees, with many already taking on board the recommendations provided by Steve, Dr Oliver and our Franchise Support Office staff. I look forward to another busy and memorable year for Fastway Couriers.”
