First Hog’s Express drive-thru draws a crowd in Queensland

Hog’s Australia’s Steakhouse has opened its first drive-thru Hog’s Express store in Brisbane to a rousing reception from locals who queued up both in the restaurant and the drive-thru to sample the selection of burgers, ribs and wings on the menu.

One week on and the queues have not subsided with the Hog’s Classic Burger a clear menu favourite followed by the Chicken and Buffalo Burger and the classic Steak & Onion Burger.

Hog’s on the go has proved particularly popular with the local constabulary across the road who have welcomed the new food addition to their neighbourhood.

Hog’s CEO Ross Worth said he knew that they had a great offering with their Hog’s Express drive-thru model but the response had exceeded expectation.

“Burgers are flying out the door as expected, along with a huge quantity of our famous chicken wings and ribs,” said Worth.

“This is such a fresh and exciting addition to the Hog’s brand as we move into our 30th year and has established that our customers love having the option to grab Hog’s on the go.

“We’re actively looking to open more drive-thru restaurants around Australia and have fielded many enquiries from potential franchisees, so watch this space.”

Worth says the investment for a Hog’s Express restaurant sits at around $450k but depends on size and location. The footprint can be adjusted to suit any location which makes it a desirable and flexible proposition for potential franchisees.

“Being part of a 30-year-old business with a tremendous track record also gives potential franchisees a great sense of confidence both in us and in their own ability to succeed.”

The Express menu signals a clear departure from the traditional restaurant fare with a serious burger selection that includes Mac & Cheese, Pork Belly, Southern Chicken, Calamari & Whiting, Tex-Mex, and Crispy Vegetarian.  Also on the menu is a selection of ribs and wings, Hog’s favourites such as curly fries and onion rings, as well as salads and a special menu for kids.

Customers who choose to dine in will find Hog’s Express equipped with the latest technology including a fully interactive customer ordering system via iPad and power and charging devices storewide.

The new drive-thru Hog’s Express is located at 148 Station Rd Burpengary.
