Food with soul for western Sydney

Soul Origin Parramatta is living up to its ethos of “eating mindfully” by supporting disadvantaged locals at the Western Sydney Homeless Connect Forum.

Held at at Parramatta Town Hall on October 12, the event, now in its third year, is a one-stop-shop where the most vulnerable people of western Sydney can access a free meal, free haircut, dental and health check-up and shop for clothing, toys and books at no cost.

As one of the privileged sponsors, Soul Origin Parramatta gave out 1000 salads, served over 300 cups of coffee, and provided staff to volunteer at the event from the two stores at Westfield Parramatta. Soul Origin Parramatta franchisee Sherwin Djamil says their light, fresh salads were enthusiastically received as a refreshingly nutritious and healthy option.

Djamil says. “At Soul Origin we’re all about being refreshing, healthy and lively and we wanted to reflect this at the event. It was a bright sunny day and the music was pumping, there was lots of dancing, clapping and cheering in the queues for our salads. The energy was amazing.”

This was the first time Soul Origin Parramatta has been involved in a community initiative like this, the first of many to come, Djamil says. “The team and I feel very privileged and grateful to have had the opportunity to be involved. We all loved giving back to the community, engaging with the locals and serving beyond our extended customers. It’s very fulfilling, and part of our duty to our local community. It is all part of Soul Origin’s mission and values.”
