The Franchise Council of Australia (FCA) has welcomed the release of the new Franchising Code of Conduct, set to be implemented on 1 January, 2015.
Following the announcement of the Wein review by the Labor Government in January 2013, the FCA has worked collaboratively with both the previous and current Governments during the consultation process.
FCA General Manager, Mr Kym De Britt said the review was of great interest to members, and franchisors and other stakeholders across the country had participated in the various stages of consultation.
“The Franchising Code of Conduct review and subsequent update has been a lengthy process. During that time, both Governments have sought input from across the sector. It is pleasing to see that much of the contribution made by our members has been taken into account and is reflected in the update.
“Our members work at the coalface of what is a major part of the Australian economy. Both franchisors and franchisees are best placed to provide input into regulation that will ensure the Australian franchise sector remains a healthy and ethical place to do business.
“On behalf of the Franchise Council of Australia I congratulate the Government, Minister Billson and the Department of Treasury on a job well done and look forward to Australia continuing to lead the way in franchising best practice,” Mr De Britt said.
The FCA will be holding Franchise Code Compliance Forums for members around the country next week. You can register here.
