Grand opening of the first Just Cuts franchised salon in London a huge success

On 28 March 2019, iconic Australian hairdressing brand Just Cuts celebrated its expansion into the United Kingdom with the grand opening of its first franchised salon in South London.

Local London mum Magda Deaconescu – fulfilling her lifelong dream of owning a salon – cut the ribbon across the entrance of her stylish Just Cuts salon in Southside Wandsworth shopping centre to a cheering crowd of clients and media. This is the second Just Cuts to open in the UK.

‘I realised the time had come to chase one of my dreams. I instantly fell in love with [Just Cuts’s] family-friendly philosophy and had a gut feeling that joining forces with them was the right move for me.’ – Magda Deaconescu

Deaconescu, a forward-thinking 38-year-old, previously worked in the corporate sector. After spending a few years away from the rat race, raising her two beautiful daughters, she decided to take up the challenge of business ownership – but was a little nervous about being completely on her own.

‘Ask any mum, work–life balance is really important. But now my girls are a bit older, I’ve realised the time has come to chase one of my dreams. Just Cuts is the southern hemisphere’s largest hairdressing brand, so when I found out they wanted to expand across the UK, I sent a message to them. I instantly fell in love with their family-friendly philosophy and had a gut feeling that joining forces with them was the right move for me.’

Magda’s team of stylists are bringing the Just Cuts premium service at not-so-premium prices – well known in Australia and New Zealand, where there are 200+ Just Cuts salons – to the people of Wandsworth. On the day of the grand opening, stylists gave the first 30 clients free style cuts, with everyone else being able to benefit from a six-week special on the price of cuts.

‘You can’t book an appointment at our salon, but our app allows you to check in and join the queue so you can continue shopping until it’s your turn to get in the chair. Using our app also builds up loyalty points to spend on any service or JUSTICE Professional product – you get one point for every £1 you spend.’

Just Cuts founder Denis McFadden made the trip to London to support Magda and the team, and is thrilled to be bringing the brand to the capital. He once had his own salon in London in the late 1970s before returning home to Australia to begin the Just Cuts story.

‘I consider London to be the world centre for hair fashion, so coming over here is a proud moment for the whole Just Cuts team. In the past, we’ve had many British backpackers travel to Australia and New Zealand seeking work in our salons. When the time comes for them to depart, they ask: "When will Just Cuts be coming to the UK?". Wandsworth is the continuation of our UK story and we’re grateful to be part of making Magda’s dreams come true.’

Showcasing a brand new Just Cuts ‘coastal’ look, with a modern, open-plan layout, Just Cuts Wandsworth opens as a JUSTICE Professional–exclusive salon, offering clients a range of professional and affordable hair care, styling and scalp care products to help maintain and complement their style cuts in between visits to the salon. JUSTICE Professional has been sun-kissing Australian hair since 1997, and are delighted to be offering the range to the United Kingdom clients.
