IWG announces new appointment as it continues to grow franchise program in Australia

IWG, the world’s leading provider of flexible workspaces, has announced a key appointment to its Australian franchise team – as it continues to extend its newly launched franchise program in Australia.

Mark Bhardwaj has been named Head of Partnership Growth in Australia to help deliver IWG’s ambitious growth strategy, by driving the local franchise offering which allows Australian franchise operators to enter the booming workspace industry. His role will involve further extending the local delivery of IWG’s franchise business model, to accelerate national growth with franchise partners around Australia.

With over 18 years of experience, Mark brings a wealth of knowledge – across franchise, business development and financial services – into his new role. Previous positions include Head of Franchise Development at Volkswagen Group Australia, Head of Sales and Operations at ŠKODA Auto Australia, and both General Manager of Business Development and National Franchise Development Manager at Ateco Group Australia.

Mark will report into Head of Partnership Growth in Asia Pacific, Matthew James Kenley, who is leading the business’ drive to grow its franchise offering across the region.

Damien Sheehan, Country Head of IWG Australia comments: “The demand for flexible workspace is growing exponentially across the world, including in Australia. By 2030, it is predicted that up to 30 per cent of all commercial real estate will be flexible workspace, while flexible working is estimated to increase the total economic output in Australia by an estimated $122 billion1.

“Through our franchise program, we’re giving Australians a unique opportunity to capitalise on the untapped and increasing potential of our market. Flexible workspace is one of the most exciting growth markets in the world, and the next frontier for franchise operators. Mark’s experience will help us further strengthen our relationships with existing and new operators, bringing the many benefits of flexible working to more people and businesses across Australia.”

Mark’s appointment follows the launch of the IWG franchise programme in Australia earlier this year (April 2019), which is available across IWG brands.

As part of the new programme, IWG offers comprehensive infrastructure to support Australian franchisees throughout the lifecycle of their investment. The Australian IWG franchise team works closely with its franchisees to ensure they have a framework to find the right location and design; are able to grow their market footprint backed by world-class operational and marketing support, and have the quality customer service IWG’s brands are known for.

IWG companies help millions of people in over 1,000 cities across more than 120 countries, by providing a choice of professional, inspiring and collaborative workspaces and communities around the world.
