Labour of love as couriers deliver more this Valentine’s Day

Fastway Couriers is preparing for another busy Valentine’s Day as more romantics flock online in search of the perfect gift for their significant other.

With double-digit growth in deliveries at its largest Australian depot, the courier services provider is seeing several trends in the way Australians choose to celebrate Valentine’s Day, including earlier sales, more deliveries direct to workplaces and more risqué gifts.

Richard Thame, CEO at Fastway Couriers, says couriers around Australia are preparing to deliver thousands of gifts to ‘loved up’ individuals on Friday.

“Over the past five years, Valentine’s Day has grown to become one of the busiest days of the year for us. Thanks to online retailing, we’re expecting to see a 12-15% increase compared to last year in the number of deliveries across Sydney,” says Richard.

For Fastway, this year’s Valentine’s Day is defined by a broader range of products being purchased and an increase in the number of gifts being sent to people’s workplaces.

“Roses and chocolates are still as popular as ever, but there has been an interesting shift towards more unusual gifts, such as lingerie, from boutique online retailers. Our couriers are looking forward to a big day of fun deliveries, especially when they see the look on people’s faces when they get a surprise gift at work,” says Richard.

Richard says Fastway Couriers is excited to be sharing the love this Valentine’s Day and is looking forward to further growth in years to come.
