THE LEATHER DOCTOR – under MSi NZ Ltd, part of the Mobile Services International organisation which also comprises Care Cover, The Timber Doctor and The Fabric Doctor – is a repair service business franchise targeting major furniture retailers and the home residential market.
MSi commenced in Queensland, Australia, and entered the NZ franchise market in March this year where it has since enjoyed 180 per cent turnover increases month on month.
National Administration Manager and part shareholder of MSi NZ which owns the Master Franchise rights for the whole of the country is Leah Mann who until earlier this year ran a successful franchise in Mackay, Queensland.
Leah Mann’s territory currently services all of Auckland, Tauranga and Hamilton, though plans are afoot to offer separate franchise opportunities for the latter two areas. However, Wellington and Christchurch are major business hubs that MSi NZ wants to focus on in the short term, followed by Napier.
According to Leah, “national contacts are in place with all of the major furniture retailers. These types of retailers are keen to attract technicians in order to satisfy customer warranty claims and the required repairs. Ideally, a technician with motivation and skills in the fields of leather, timber and upholstery are highly desired, however training can be provided by MSi NZ if required.” Leah added that “NZ’s vision is very encouraging when it comes to providing a positive business environment in order to achieve ‘cut through’ and opening doors, thus giving new businesses such as ours the chance to compete on a level playing field.”
To date, Leah, along with MSi NZ directors John Lennox and Carl Dunlop, have been very impressed with the customer acceptance levels of MSi NZ’s service.
“All the portents are good as we constantly receive positive responses from clients in terms of the high service levels we provide, the overall quality and professionalism of our work, and speedy attendance to jobs made possible by a special state-of-the-art job logging/tracking system,”said John Lennox.
“When you combine all of the above elements, they represent major points of difference for MSi NZ. As such we are very excited about the future and the important business role that MSi NZ can play in the marketplace.”
