Melbourne coffee identity and founder of Victoria’s iconic Degani café group, George Pezaros has identified Townsville as the nation’s next coffee market set to boil – and has chosen the North Queensland city to launch Degani’s ‘for the love of coffee’ campaign on September 30.
The ‘for the love of coffee’ campaign will see Mr Pezaros and Degani’s expert baristas travel the country and educate a growing number of coffee elitists on how to enjoy the finest cup of coffee, and more importantly, show them how to get their fingers into this lucrative pie – an industry worth a whopping $4.23 billion!
Kicking off the campaign in Townsville, Mr George Pezaros and Degani CEO Dan Gallo will roll into town from 30 September to 2 October to provide one of the most exciting opportunities the Queensland coffee culture has ever seen – and Townsvillians will have the first chance to jump on board.
Mr Pezaros said the ‘for the love of coffee’ campaign would not only further educate the coffee-loving public on Degani’s signature blend, but would also entice business minded individuals to look into Degani as an exciting business opportunity.
“Coffee trends are changing and it’s not about meeting at the local coffee chain for a mediocre latte and a bite to eat anymore. Coffee is now an experience, a destination, a lifestyle and we are launching this campaign to show people the ‘Degani’ way,” Mr Pezaros said.
“Industry reports tell us that there’s an annual 5.3% growth in coffee and an annual profit of $269.6 million, but what it does not tell you is that Degani itself already sells over 1 million cups of coffee a month and that we are bringing the Degani blend and its success to Queensland now. We are on the lookout for the hippest, business-savvy, coffee-treprenuers to join us in Townsville and start our Degani family here in Queensland.”
Townsville has been identified as one of Queensland’s fastest emerging coffee hotspots and Degani is certainly riding the wave with no less than six sites planned for the tropical city.
The next stage in the growth is to find the best franchise business partners to take over these lucrative sites. As part of the ‘for the love of coffee’ campaign, Mr Pezaros and Mr Gallo are inviting interested parties to join them at a VIP session at The Foyer, Riverway Arts Centre, 20 Village Boulevard, Thuringowa Central, from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, October 2, to learn the benefits of Degani for themselves.
After the VIP Townsville seminar, all potential Degani business partners coming onboard will be invited to Melbourne for a VIP introduction, to immerse them into the Degani family!
For three days Degani’s ‘for the love of coffee’ campaign will also see the top of the range ‘Baby D’ – a special Degani coffee-car hybrid – handing out free samples around the city and showing Townsvillians what they can expect from Degani. In addition, everyone in Townsville registering and following Degani on social media will be placed into the ‘for the love of coffee’ draw to win a VIP trip to where it all began in Melbourne, to be drawn at the end of the campaign.
By the end of the first phase of the campaign, Degani is hoping to find the perfect business partners to take on the following planned Degani sites in Townsville; Castletown, The Strand, Stockland, Deeragun, The Willows and a special spot right in the CBD.
The planned Townsville phase is expected to see all six stores open by 2016, providing 200 jobs and bringing a new and exciting café experience to the Townsville community. The first Degani business partner in Townsville will be offered a five week training program at no cost, representing more than $15,000 in value!
“Degani has always been a business built on individuality and becoming a part of the Degani family allows our franchise business partners to run their business the way they want to, but with the full support of a trusted, reputable and profitable brand – that’s why we look for the best. We have identified Townsville as the coffee hotspot of Queensland which is why we are choosing to start our Queensland operations here,” Mr Pezaros said.
The first Degani stores in Townsville start from $300,000 and the Degani ‘for the love of coffee’ campaign will kick off in Townsville on Tuesday 30 September and be around the city until Friday 3 October.
