MYOB FCA Excellence in Franchising Awards 2018

The Franchise Council of Australia honoured franchising’s best and brightest at the MYOB FCA Excellence in Franchising Awards Gala Dinner in Melbourne 16 October.

Congratulating all entrants, finalists and winners, FCA CEO Mary Aldred said the awards process was arduous, as entrants were asked to outline their road to success, and to reflect in detail on their business goals and the pathway, actions and initiatives that they had taken to achieve them.

Mary said the talent, creativity and success recognised through the 2018 MYOB FCA Excellence in Franchising Awards showcases was good reason to be optimistic about the future of franchising in Australia.

The nation-wide handyman business, Hire a Hubby, has been named as Australian Established Franchisor of the Year, and Hire a Hubby franchisees have taken out two of the 2018 franchisee awards.

The title of Multi-Unit Franchisee of the Year went to NSW/ACT Regional winners, Jim Kelly and Crystal Petzer co-owners of Hire a Hubby Narrabeen and Mona Vale.

Speaking at the awards presentation, Jim Kelly said “We’ve got a great franchisor and a great brand and we go out every day with passion to do what we love doing.”

Fellow Hire a Hubby franchisee Russell Hampton from Bayview, Cairns won Single Unit Franchisee of the Year, two or more staff.

Hire A Hubby’s closest competition for the award were finalists Battery World, Mister Minit, MBCM Strata Specialists, The Coffee Club and The Leather Doctor.

The award for Australian Emerging Franchisor of the Year went to Laser Clinics Australia.

In the MYOB FCA Excellence in Franchising Awards, the 2018 national winner for Single Unit Franchisee, less than two staff, was EFM Health Clubs’ Glen Camiade of Ferntree Gully.

Anytime Fitness, which has been operating in Australia for ten years, was named the International Franchisor of the Year (for a brand developed overseas but operating in Australia).

Regular award winner, Boost Juice again took home awards, this year for Excellence in International Franchising, and for Excellence in Franchise Innovation.

Poolwerx also took home two awards, as national winner for Franchisor Social Responsibility, and manager Stephen Halls’ won Field Manager of the Year.

Inspirations Paints was named winner for Excellence in Marketing

Kate Thomson of ANZ Mobile Lending won Franchise Woman of the Year

Bendigo Bank, North Perth won the Franchisee Community Responsibility and Contribution award and,

HR Central was named Supplier of the Year 2018

A former chair of the FCA, Michael Paul, the founder of Pack & Send, was rewarded with a place on the Hall of Fame for his long term contribution to franchising in Australia.

The franchisor of the year awards marked the gala closing event of the National Franchise Convention at Melbourne’s Crown Promenade Hotel.
