NightOwl encourages juniors to become League Legends

The convenience brand which partnered with league legend and coach, Mal Meninga in April, is encouraging junior Rugby League associations with clubs in NightOwl communities to register now to partake in the program, NightOwl Junior League Legends, with Mal Meninga.

Major prizes are up for grabs including an exclusive coaching session with Meninga.

“NightOwl is proud to be a champion in local communities and we felt teaming up with Mal, an iconic Queenslander, would mean that two iconic brands would combine,” NightOwl Franchisor Adam Adams said.

“NightOwl Junior League Legends is the perfect opportunity to further Mal’s involvement with NightOwl as it connects with local communities, this time, through junior Rugby League.”

Mal Meninga said being involved in the program was a great opportunity to enhance communities through a junior sport.

“It’s very important to nurture junior players, and in this instance NightOwl is using its status in Queensland and northern New South Wales to assist Rugby League associations and I’m pleased to use my status in the sport to encourage players to participate,” Mr Meninga said.

“I look forward to meeting the winners of this program and to giving them an exclusive coaching session which may inspire them to become sporting legends of the future.”

When associations register on behalf of their clubs within NightOwl communities, or clubs register on their own accord, stickers will be affixed to “scoreboards” at each relevant NightOwl store in Queensland and northern New South Wales.

The stickers will be earned when customers purchase any items on promotion at NightOwl from when the clubs register until August 30.

Players or members involved in the program can go one step further by taking their receipt back to their club’s collection box.

“NightOwl Junior League Legends gives each club the opportunity to score as many points as possible with the two-step system,” Mr Adams said.

“We encourage parents to hold onto their receipts after purchasing the promotional items and pop them into the collection boxes on game day or at training, to have the best chance to win the major prizes.”

First prize includes one exclusive training session with Mal Meninga that can be won by individual clubs or by associations who can then hold their own internal competition to raffle the prize.

Second and third prizes include framed Queensland State of Origin or Australian jerseys signed by Mal Meninga. Each prize is coupled with an ultimate Gatorade pack.

Other benefits for junior Rugby League clubs as part of the promotion include the opportunity to hold barbecues at their local NightOwl to raise funds.

“We can appreciate that it is often difficult for families to find funds to involve their children in sport so we’re assisting clubs to raise money for next season with fundraising opportunities,” Mr Adams said.

“Our plan is to assist clubs through this program, and future programs to help them become League Legends.”

Other benefits for registered clubs include the $2 pie offer thanks to Four ‘n Twenty. Players from participating clubs can enjoy a 175gram meat pie for just $2 with any Frozen Coke purchase. All they have to do is wear their jersey on game day to enjoy the special offer.

For the chance to become Junior League Legends, associations need to register at legends.nightowl.com.au and nominate the clubs within NightOwl store communities who would like to be involved.
