NightOwl community rallies to support sick kids and the Children’s Hospital Foundation
NightOwl’s OwlGood fundraising campaign will set flight for a good cause again in 2023, rallying their community to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation and sick kids this September and October.
For the second consecutive year, customers across NightOwl’s 84 stores can grab their daily essentials and support the Children’s Hospital Foundation on check-out through the purchase of a wall token for $2.
All funds raised will help kids like Cairns five-year-old Sebastian Leonardi, who was diagnosed with juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma – a type of brain cancer – at just two years old after doctors found a tumour in his brain.
For Sebastian and his parents – Crystal and Sam – the past few years have been a blur of hospital visits, emergency admissions, surgeries, chemotherapy, physiotherapy, speech and occupational therapy – majority of this away from his three sisters.
Most recently, Sebastian returned home to Cairns for 68 rounds of chemotherapy, with his most recent scan revealing that his tumour is stable.
“It has been such a long road to get him to this point, and we hope he will be well enough to start school soon and enjoy learning and socialising, like all five-year old’s should,” said Crystal.
In 2022, NightOwl customers across the country got behind the inaugural OwlGood fundraising campaign in a big way, raising $36,826 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Lyndsey Rice is thrilled to see the return of OwlGood, to help change the lives of sick and injured kids across the state.
“Each breakthrough in research, purchase of a new piece of equipment or load eased by our team at the hospital – that is because of the generosity of partners like NightOwl who allow us to continue to invest into the health and wellbeing of children and young people.
“A $2 donation on check-out can make a huge impact for sick kids and we are incredibly humbled to have the support of the NightOwl community once again in 2023,” Ms Rice added.
NightOwl National Marketing Manager, Glenys Tristam said: “Since launching our OwlGood program in 2022, our customers continue to exceed expectations in their generous and steadfast support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation.”
“This campaign is a great example of how a little good can add up and have a huge impact on the lives of sick kids and their families across the state, just like Sebastian.”
The NightOwl wall token campaign will help the Children’s Hospital Foundation support kids like Sebastian through funding cutting-edge equipment, vital research and on the ground support for families.
Customers will be able to purchase a wall token, round up their shop and donate to the Children’s Hospital Foundation in all 84 NightOwl stores across Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia from 20 September to 17 October 2023.
