Pie Face appoints new Australian Managing Director

Leading Australian café bakery franchise Pie Face has appointed Kevin Waite as Managing Director, to oversee all aspects of the business across Australia and New Zealand, who will take the helm from June 2014.

Pie Face Chief Executive officer, Wayne Homschek, said “Kevin is a perfect fit to drive the Pie Face brand from where it first started. With extensive experience in retail food service in both South Africa and Australia and a track record of strong business results, I look forward to working with him to develop our own talent and accelerate the growth of the business domestically.’

Kevin has over twelve years of experience in the FMCG sector, serving as Managing Director of the Steers brand, part of the Famous Brands group in South Africa, during which tenure, the brand expanded internationally, and doubled in size and annual turnover.

Waite immigrated to Australia in 2007 whereafter he took up the position as General Manager on the Ribs and Rumps brand, and until joining Pie Face, as Managing Director of leading franchise Brumbies bakeries, with over 260 stores in Australia and 10 in New Zealand.

Pie Face offers more than just pies, and is proving itself at the cutting edge of food innovation and flavours, as the franchise continues to grow domestically and internationally throughout NZ, the US, MENA countries, and most recently across Singapore and Malaysia.

Waite said he’s excited by the challenges that face the brand.

“The retail food industry in Australia is extremely competitive, as consumers become more savvy about what they are eating, and where it comes from. Pie Face has a unique story to tell and a long list of credentials in award-winning food and coffee, so I look forward to telling these stories and developing the current connection between Pie Face and its customers.”

Waite continued, “Unlike many other brands, Pie Face is built on a superior quality product, which is recognised and sought after by consumers.”
