Quest Kelvin Grove Apartment Hotel has become one of the first hotels in Brisbane to step into the future of transportation, installing an electric vehicle charging station for Tesla and Porsche electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Quest Kelvin Grove Franchisee, Gary Lin believes electric charging stations will become an essential requirement for all hotels by 2020. Using the technology, drivers can charge their cars upon arrival after taking a road trip from Melbourne, Sydney or enjoying a night in Brisbane.
“I am passionate about sustainability and know this is a key issue for most guests here at Quest Kelvin Grove Apartment Hotel. We have seen the growth of the charging network and it is exciting to be one of the first in Brisbane to provide a solution to owners of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles such as myself,” said Mr Lin.
“Installing an electric charging station at the property ensures we are thinking of the future, setting ourselves up to be able to service both the current and future needs of our guests. As we see an increase in the number of electric and plug-in hybrid cars on the road and on offer from car rental companies – we must ensure we are ready to meet this demand.”
“Already, we are seeing regular use of the charging station and have received very positive feedback from guests. I would like to thank Tesla, Porsche Centre Brisbane, Urban Air and Electrical for making this ambition become a reality and together I’m excited to promote a sustainable future.”
The installation at Quest Kelvin Grove Apartment Hotel is inline with Tesla’s plan to install a network of Destination Chargers at key locations around Australia, meeting the needs of a growing number of Model S all-electric sedan drivers.
As of June 2015, there were 14,436 electric-petrol hybrid vehicles registered in Queensland and 179 fully electric cars. Energy Queensland has plans to invest $3 million in electric car chargers in regional Queensland from next year, which will see this figure grow even faster.
