From the RAAF to Ristrettos

RAAF veteran Scott Penrose, along with wife Nicole, has opened the first Zarraffa’s Coffee store for 2017 in West Ipswich this week.

Currently overseas on his fourth deployment to the Middle East, Scott - who has served a combined 17 years as both a full time and reservist for the RAAF - will be cheering wife Nicole on as she launches this new chapter in their lives.

“We’ve been a part of the Ipswich community for 15 years and we are ready for something new in our careers and to build a business that suits our family,” said Scott.

“Nicole has done the heavy lifting of late, with loads of phone calls and emails flying back and forward across the globe, but upon my return in April we will very much be a husband and wife team, dealing with the demands of running a busy Zarraffa’s drive thru store.”

Scott said it was not an overnight decision and one that has taken three years to reach fruition.

“Zarraffa’s is very thorough in their selection process of franchisees and this meant that we really had a full understanding of what it takes to own and operate one of their drive thru stores, protecting everyone in the long run.”

The new store will be located at 242 Brisbane St, West Ipswich (adjacent the new Puma service station) in an industrial area that will be handy to the working industries of Ipswich.

“Having spent a large amount of time in the area we have watched it change and grow and could see there was an opportunity to expand the retail offering and convenience for locals.”

“With opening hours from 5am, we will also be able to cater to tradespeople or early risers on their way to work, without our customers even having to get out of their car.”

Zarraffa’s CEO Kenton Campbell said that West Ipswich will be the first of a number of store openings this year, with the priority on drive thru locations.

“We know our customers want great convenient coffee and our drive thru operations are designed for just that,” said Kenton.

“Combine this with hard working, local franchisees and it’s a recipe for success all around.”
