This June, Australians came together at San Churro for an indulgence that made a difference, with San Churro raising $38,178.05 for mental health organisation beyondblue through their first ever Share a Churros Week initiative.
The fundraising initiative, which took place between Monday 15 – Sunday 21 June, at 45 San Churros stores nationwide, urged Australians to connect or reconnect with a loved one over the experience of sharing a churros, with San Churro donating $1 to beyondblue for every churros dish purchased, $1 extra for every in-store customer photo shared on Instagram using the tag #shareachurros and in-store donation tins. Together with their customers San Churro raised $38,178.05, with all funds going towards the beyondblue Support Service, which provides Australians with the opportunity to speak with trained mental health counsellors via telephone, email and web chat.
Today, San Churro CEO Geoff Sinclair presented a cheque for $38,178.05 to beyondblue General Manager, Corporate & Community Engagement, Sue Boyce.
Commenting on the funds raised, Sue said, “We thank San Churro and its customers for their generous support during Share a Churros Week. This significant amount will go a long way to enable our Support Service to continue the important work it does to assist those in need.”
San Churro CEO Geoff Sinclair added, “The generosity shown through Share a Churros Week has been overwhelming at a staff and customer level. Encouraging togetherness is inherent in everything we do at San Churro, and I am so glad that our customers got on board and helped raise funds for such an important cause.”
It wasn’t only the general public who supported the cause; San Churro was delighted to welcome a number of influential personalities and athletes, including Tanya Beths, Kelly Cartwright and Brodie Holland as well as Josh and Charlotte from The Block and radio personality, Amber Petty.
