Senior Logistics Finance Executive joins CouriersPlease as CFO

CouriersPlease has announced the appointment of Marc Jacobson as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Marc joins the senior leadership team working to achieve continued growth in the E-Commerce space and cement CouriersPlease’s reputation as Australia’s leading courier and freight service.

Prior to CouriersPlease, Marc spent eight years at Australia Post, where he oversaw the growth of the business’ six-billion-dollar operational network and helped establish its Parcels Division. During his time at Australia Post, Marc was instrumental in the development of more than 10 new parcel sites during the industry’s E-Commerce boom. Prior to this position, he worked with some of Australia’s leading businesses including Wesfarmers Industrial & Safety, Best & Less, KPMG and E&Y. Marc is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Masters of Applied Finance.

Richard Thame, CEO of CouriersPlease said, “I’m thrilled to welcome Marc to the team. His impressive track-record overseeing business growth is a huge win for us, but it is his tenacious attitude and innovative thinking that will help CouriersPlease on its trajectory in being the fastest growing parcel and courier service in Australia.

“Marc also has a keen interest in the customer experience, having worked in Best & Less’s commercial division, so he understands retailers and the external pressures they face. I’m looking forward to working with Marc and utilising his keen expertise to unlock new areas of growth.”

Of his appointment, Marc said, “It’s a privilege to be joining CouriersPlease at such an exciting time for the company, and the industry as a whole. Although there are economic headwinds that need to be managed, E-Commerce continues to grow at a faster rate than bricks and mortar and CouriersPlease is in the best position to take advantage of this growth.

“Considering UK E-Commerce sales make up around a third of total retail sales, and Australia is currently sitting at around 20 per cent, we know that there is a considerable area of room for growth. With a superb team of staff and a network of hardworking Franchise Partners, I have no doubt that this can be achieved.”
