Stop what you’re doing: Guzman y Gomez just made one of the tastiest additions to its menu yet

The traditional family recipe will knock your socks off and keep you coming back for more

Get excited because Guzman y Gomez, Australia’s favourite Mexican, has just announced a mouthwatering, new addition to the menu — ground beef (a.k.a mince). If mince makes you think of fluro coloured seasoning mixes and budget meat packs from the supermarket, stop right there. This is a very different kind of mince. GYG’s ground beef is made using fresh ingredients and a traditional Mexican recipe, passed down through the family of Guzman y Gomez Head of Menu Innovation, Cindy Flores. It’s the result of 20 years being taste tested in the Flores family kitchen and is packed full of flavour and heritage.

Chef Cindy has recreated her mother’s recipe so that Aussies can enjoy it in any Guzman y Gomez restaurant across the country, from today. Boasting a winning combination of garlic, onion, Mexican spices, and a splash of freshly squeezed orange juice (a regular addition in Mexican cooking), the ground beef recipe is guaranteed to blow your mind and your tastebuds.

It’s everything you know and love about GYG already, with the extra love, care and heartiness of Mama Flores’ recipe. Think of it like a big family hug in a burrito. You can also have the mince with any of your other favourite GYG menu items.

Steven Marks, Global CEO and Founder of Guzman y Gomez said:

“At Guzman y Gomez, food is our pride and our passion. We’ve always been committed to serving the best and perfecting every recipe before we take it to our guests. Family recipes are cherished traditions and we’re so lucky to be able to take this authentic, Mexican, recipe and bring that story and flavour to Aussies all over the country. I know that Australia is going to fall in love with Mama Flores’ ground beef. It’s definitely my new favourite item on the menu and I can’t wait for you guys to try it!”

Cindy Flores, Head of Menu Innovation, Guzman y Gomez said:
“I am so excited to share my mother’s incredible mince recipe, that’s been passed down through the generations, with our guests. A lot of Aussies have probably never experienced the flavour of traditional Mexican mince. It was such a big part of my childhood, I feel lucky to introduce them to those flavours and heritage.”

Mince is available now, so get a crew down to your nearest GYG to try it. The launch of the new menu item is the latest move in Guzman y Gomez’s mission to reinvent fast food for the 21st century, which has recently included new restaurant openings, launching a breakfast menu, and continuing to progress its partnership with Project Wing.
