Morgan’s SUPA IGA Melton has partnered with Sushi company Go Sushi to create both delicious product as well as atmosphere for its customers in store.
Upon entering the store, customers are now greeted with sushi chefs busy at work rolling freshly made sushi rolls, lunch and dinner packs and much more right in front of their eyes.
Neal and Peter Morgan, brothers and owners of Morgan’s IGA, were looking for continued growth via a strong point of difference and enhancement of their fresh food offer.
Not inclined to provide shelf – based sushi, Neal and Peter saw the opportunity as that wow effect they knew customers would enjoy.
Neal sat down to share his thoughts upon completion of the Go Sushi kiosk:
“To be honest I was a little nervous but after months of planning and getting to know the team at Go Sushi we are more than impressed with their guidance, professionalism and expertise. The layers of support incorporating all facets of operating procedures, food safety, admin, fit-out, equipment, training, marketing, social media, innovation and ongoing auditing was way more than we expected, and we are delighted with the end result. Sales are building every day and we have only received good feedback from repeat customers to date – the quality of our Sushi is being talked about around town. There is no doubt in my mind making “good” Sushi is quite a science and not something I’d recommend without the guidance of a skilled franchisor like Go Sushi. We are so impressed we have another kiosk on the go and looking forward to a long-term relationship with the team from Go Sushi.”
The concept of sushi being made fresh on site and its effect beyond the delicious product itself is best summarised by a familiar brand doing similar upgrades.
David Jones’ Chief Executive John Dixon said that food made fresh provides a ‘Halo Effect’ as it brings in shoppers who can have a meal, then browse through the rest of the store.i
‘I’ve found it to be the jewel in our stores refurbishments crown’ – Neal Morgan upon completion of his Go Sushi Kiosk.
Pacific Retail Management, the umbrella company under which Go Sushi sits, is bringing the concept of fresh food made on site to supermarkets throughout Australia and internationally.
With Sushi demand amongst Australians on the riseii as well as shopping visits now up to almost three times a week for the average Australianiii, Go Sushi has seen success on the back of consumers enjoying lunch on the go whilst shopping as well as buying lunch in advance of work.
Morgan’s SUPA IGA Melton Go Sushi Kiosk officially opened 20th October 2017.
