Sydney says Konichiwa to Rice Workshop
Rice Workshop is creating the real taste of Japan in a bowl, everyday at Sydney’s Westfield CBD. Proving that fast, fresh and flavoursome food that is more than sushi and sashimi, Rice Workshop offers the flavours of Japan’s urban street culture on your own doorstep.
Rice Workshop is a concept developed by entrepreneur David Loh and chef, Tomohiro Suzuki. They both found that although Japanese food is available in Australia, there was no one offering edgy and exciting food that ncompassed the pop-tastic, young cultural landscape that Japan is known for.
Seeing this gap in the market they decided to act and opened the flagship Little Bourke Street store in Melbourne’s CBD 18 months ago. With the stores instant success, another six stores across Melbourne and another three are in the pipeline to open in the next two months. Sydney Westfield CBD is the first store to be opened across the border.
Rice Workshop is renowned for the crowd favourite - the Stewed Beef Rice Bowl. It is a bowl of thinly sliced beef cooked to perfection, simmered with onion and a secret recipe soya broth of herbs and spices served over rice and topped with a soft boiled egg. If beef isn’t your thing you can also choose from a range of other bowl toppings such as teriyaki chicken, tempura prawn udon noodles, salmon, or Katsu curry. If you are not a fan of rice don’t worry… all toppings can be served over a house-made salad, making a healthy choice delicious. You can also accessorise your bowl with extra toppings such as tempura vegetable pancakes or add a cup of miso soup amongst other things.
To celebrate the opening of Rice Workshop in Sydney, the store will be offering a buy one bowl receive one free across it’s entire menu on Tuesday 26th May 2015.
Rice Workshop will also be offering free green tea soft serve with every bowl purchase for the first week for you to try. It sounds a little different, but it is the most refreshing soft serve you can indulge in.
