Sydney’s warm welcome for global business leaders

More than 1,000 international business leaders and government representatives will gather in Sydney next week to examine global issues affecting business.

The three-day 2017 World Chambers Congress conference will be held at Sydney’s International Convention Centre from 19 to 21 September.

This is the first time Australia has played host to the event which will bring together representatives from over 100 countries who will be welcomed at a reception hosted by Sydney lord mayor Clover Moore.

“Sydney is Australia’s leading economic centre and we’re honoured to have been chosen to host the World Chambers Congress,” the Lord Mayor said.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our local businesses to connect and strengthen ties with a diverse international group of forward-thinking and influential business leaders.

“This will further strengthen Sydney’s standing as a key global city to work, live and visit, and an ideal place for businesses of all sizes to invest and be part of a dynamic entrepreneurial community.”

The congress is organised by the International Chamber of Commerce and the Sydney Business Chamber, a division of the NSW Business Chamber.

The City is a NSW Business Chamber member, and works closely with the organisation as the principal partner and a category sponsor of the NSW Business Chamber Business Awards.

To further support local businesses, the City has sponsored 20 winners and key participants from the recent Sydney City Business Awards to attend the final day of the convention and formal dinner.

NSW Business Chamber spokesperson, Chief Executive Officer Stephen Cartwright, said the event provided unique networking opportunities.

“Within the program, there are a number of opportunities for Sydney businesses to develop networks, establish ties and promote trade and investment. The Congress will feature visionary and esteemed speakers and examine significant global issues affecting business,” Mr Cartwright said.
