The Cheesecake Shop Provides Sweet Support for Cancer Research in South Australia

The Cheesecake Shop in South Australia has partnered with leading medical charity, Flinders Foundation to increase awareness and support research into cancer with a cheeky community fundraising campaign this September and October.

Bringing the breast dessert in town to the table during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, The Cheesecake Shop will be serving up a spectacular ‘Bra Cake’ RRP $175, available for pre-order from 5 September from selected SA stores, with $50 from each purchase going directly to Flinders Foundation.

Dessert lovers in South Australia can also support Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September, with $1 from every Flinders Foundation cupcake sold donated directly to Flinders Foundation.

Funds raised during Prostate Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month will contribute to the work of Flinders Foundation in South Australia, which supports leading clinicians and researchers across Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders University to deliver better research, treatment and care for people affected by cancer.

Customers wanting to give the campaign a boost of their own can add an additional $2 donation at the time of purchase in The Cheesecake Shop stores.

South Australia Senior Area Manager of The Cheesecake Shop, Mark Hanel, said they were pleased to be able to contribute to the valuable work of Flinders Foundation and support researchers based at the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer, established by the Foundation in 2012.

“So many of us have been touched by cancer ourselves or have had family or friends who have been impacted. We are just glad to create this opportunity for our community to join us in raising much-needed funds for the exceptional work in cancer research and patient care delivered by Flinders Foundation,” Mr Hanel said.

“In addition to the contributions raised through our community, The Cheesecake Shop is happy to donate an additional $10,000 directly to the Foundation’s important work. It really is cake for a cause!”

Ross Verschoor, Executive Director of Flinders Foundation said they were grateful to The Cheesecake Shop for supporting important research into cancer.

“Thanks to the generous support of The Cheesecake Shop and its customers, more discoveries and and significant medical breakthroughs can be made at Flinders which will have a global impact,” Ross said.

“The financial support generated by the community is critical to our ongoing work to prevent, cure and care and we can’t thank you all enough.”
